7 February 2011- AMSTERDAM

I've taken another long break from blogging because I've been trying to get over this awful cold....I still haven't won the battle.

This weekend, I went to Amsterdam. Here are some highlights:

1) My friend didn't realize until we got to security at the airport (which is an hour long train ride from central London) that she booked her ticket for the wrong day...

Our 4:30AM train to the airport to catch our flight to Amsterdam at 7AM.

The day we left, the wind was blowing so hard in Amsterdam that we were not allowed to take off. We sat in the airplane for 2 hours. As we were about to land, our plane was swaying from side to side from the wind. 5 feet above the ground and we were tilted side ways...it was the most terrifying landing that I've ever experienced. I thought our plane was going to crash...but luckily we made it and I'm still alive!

2) I dropped my camera in a canal, right before taking a canal cruise with the sun setting...So all these pictures that are posted, I stole from my friends.

3) I got to stay in the best flat ever, while my friends stayed in a hostel... :)

The outside of Christy's Flat

The worlds steepest/longest stairs to get up to the main level.

The most comfortable bed. Ever.

The view from the terrace.

4) I visited Anne Frank's House and the Van Gogh Museum.

You're not allowed to take pictures inside the house. It was an emotional and surreal experience. Three of my friends in our group are Jewish, so it was a very heavy way to start the morning.

On our way to the Van Gogh Museum.

Alex and me outside the museum.

Allyson and me. (This is Allyson's favorite Van Gogh painting.)

5) I walked about a million miles each day. The city is beautiful.

Everyone rides their bike and they just line the streets and sidewalks. Over the canal bridges, there are these metal grooves, so bikes can go across.

6) I experienced the many coffee shops...

7) I had the best apple pie/cake of my life...
