I know I haven't blogged in awhile, so I'll start filling in the gaps. To start off, the business classes finally began this week. I am taking International Business Environment, New Product Development, European Business Seminar, Historic London (my fun, cultural class), and European Business Culture. International Business Environment is a first year class and has almost 100 students in it, so it was something that I was not used to, in regards to the lecture size. About 20% of the students came from the UK originally, and the rest came from either other parts in Europe or from the United States. In regards to the actual course material, it will be super easy. The study abroad students leave before the actual final exams, so we have an extra piece of coursework to do instead....which is awesome because that means that all I have to do is a paper on an extra case study! Since I'm taking International Business Environment as an elective, I can breeze through the material and do one presentation with a group.
I originally thought that my Tuesday classes were going to be hard, since New Product Development and European Business Seminar are third year classes...which here that means last year classes or first year graduate classes....yikes. As it turns out, I will survive my Tuesday classes with flying colors. My NPD (new product development) class will be really interesting because it deals with being innovative and learning the market to create and introduce new products. We have to do a group project for that class where we pick an organization to analyze and come up with a new or improved/adapted product or service specifically for the company. Instead of a final exam, I will write an essay.
European Business Seminar is with the same professor as International Business Environment, so the class is basically structured the exact same, but with more in depth learning into European business. For that class, I have a group presentation on a case study and then another essay on a case study for my final, instead of an exam.
NPD and European Business Seminar are both couting for credits for my Entrepreneurship major...which means I'll only need to take one more class at Chapman to officially have completed one major.....and then the rest of my life is devoted to Accounting....woo!
Tomorrow, I have Historic London, which is only for study abroad students. That class consists of guided tours throughout London and museum tours to the British Museum, Westminster Abbey, and the Imperial War Museum. We have directions of places where we have to meet, so I will be taking the tube to Bank Station for a City tour.
On Thursday, I have European Business Culture, so we'll see how that one goes. Depending on how many credits in total are transferring back to Chapman, I might have to drop a class in order to stay under the 18 credit limit....because I do not want to pay Chapman even more money.
That's all for my classes, so far done early on Thursday and none on Friday. TRAVELING!!! I already booked my first trip and I'm going to Amsterdam on February 5th-7th. I'm going with a big group of my friends, so don't worry I won't be alone. :)
I have other places in mind of where I want to travel to in the future: Paris (going on a day trip with my grandparents when they come!), Barcelona, Dublin (possibly for St. Patrick's Day), Italy (I have tons of friends from Chapman studying in Florence), and there are lots more but I'll just stop now, so I don't make anyone too jealous.
